The site has been updated today to the latest stable update of phpBB:
Version .3.4. Released: 01 May 2021
This should stop all PHP errors and the 'not enough characters' glitch.

. . . and I have just deleted over 20,000 inactive users (users who have signed up but never logged in) from the database.
Most of these were spam, but some were genuine eg Boo2. However, going through 20,000 names individually was impossible. So - if you DID have an inactive account here, and you DO want to use it,. you will have to sign up again.

ReCaptcha version 2 is now implemented - let's see if that stops them.

erm . . . . well, actually it wasn't and 150 spammers signed up in three days. Recvaptcha v2 (the invisible version) is now implemented - let's see if that stops them.
