The site has been updated today to the latest stable update of phpBB:
Version 3.3.4. Released: 01 May 2021
This should stop all PHP errors and the 'not enough characters' glitch.
Forum upgraded to latest version software
Re: Forum upgraded to latest version software
It loads very fast now. A very pleasant experience to use. It would be a shame to lose the forum if it does not get sold and your other activities mean that you have to close it. Good luck.

Re: Forum upgraded to latest version software
I don't intend for the forum to close.
It's not a lot of work if there are a couple of on the ball moderators. The software update only took me about an hour, this time, and should keep it going for a while.
I like PHPBB, it's just that the update path is always a pain.

Storage of images. I assume if images are posted you host them on a server and therefore need to supply the space. Can this still be done or is the preference to link to something like Fliker, Photo-bucket? The reason I ask is that I had some pictures removed, so maybe thought that it was an issue? It would be good to post pics of sailing this year, maybe encourage others to share with the community. Also, I don't mind relevant adverts if it attracted revenue for you, I switched off add blocker.

Up to now all images shown in posts have had to be hosted elsewhere.BlowingOldBoots wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 9:06 pm Storage of images. It is now possible to upload images using the 'attachments' tab below the post editing window. Make sure you use the 'display attacments inline' setting. Images are limited to 0.5GB in size and no more than 3 images per post.
Larger/more images can still be inserted in posts by uploading them else where and linking to them.
