I'm Simon Keeling (SimonJK on a certain other forum) and I have been posting the Weekend Weather Forecasts for several years. Nick has very kindly invited me to add my forecasts to BlueMoment and it is my pleasure to do so.
Here's the first of the forecasts. It was issued yesterday (Thursday) but this initial post is to make sure everything works okay.

WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST
Issued: 1400 Thursday 7th February 2008
FRIDAY:
High pressure centred over northern Germany extending it’s influence into the British Isles. Low pressure northwest of Scotland has fronts training through western Scotland and eastern Ireland through the day.
For many western parts of England and Wales there will be some low cloud, mist and fog patches from time to time throughout the day. Rain affects much of Ireland and western Scotland along the line of the front, making slow eastwards progress during the day.
For much of the rest of England and Wales there will be some cloud in the morning, but this should break with some sunny spells coming through. The best of the sunshine over eastern parts of England.
Winds will be mainly S 15-18kt (F4-F5) but S-SSW 25-30kt (F6-F7) through the Irish Sea and Scotland.
SATURDAY:
A broad warm sector covers the whole of the country through Saturday. High pressure remains the dominant feature, being centred over the north of Germany, and extending into the southern half of the UK and Ireland.
I think there is still a tendency for the Irish Sea to have some low cloud, mist and some fog patches bringing poor visibility to the coasts of Ireland, Wales and western England.
Thicker cloud, associated with the cold front west of Ireland will bring more persistent periods of rain, and this drifts into the far northwest of Scotland.
For much of the rest of the country the day is likely to be fair. There will be some good spells of sunshine and it should be staying dry throughout the day as well.
Winds will be mainly S-SE 10-12kt (F3) through the Channel, S 12-17kt (F4) along eastern coasts, nearer SSW 25-30kt (F6-F7) over Scotland and mainly S 20kt (f%) over much of Ireland.
SUNDAY:
The warm front extends west to east through Scotland on Sunday. This will be bringing lo cloud, mist and drizzle along the line of the front. The drizzle and low cloud also affecting northern coasts of Ireland.
For much of England and Wales the day is going to be fair with broken cloud and sunny spells. There is a threat of some low cloud affecting the coasts of Ireland, but for much of southern Ireland the day should be dry. Over the northern half of Ireland the warm front may bring more cloud and a risk of drizzle, hill and coastal fog here too.
For Scotland the front will give cloud and outbreaks of rain for most of the day. Northern parts of Scotland should be drier though. Winds becoming more SE 5-10kt (F2-F3), but E 5-10kt (F2-F3) across northern Scotland.
Stronger winds for southwest Ireland at SE 15kt (F4).
