My suspicion that the denizens of these fora are incapable of organising a piss-up in a pub are proving founded. For me, Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday (though all 3 might attract criticism) are all good; DaveS can't do Wednesday, mm5aho (to whom I certainly owe a drink or 3) can't do Tuesday, Ocklepoint is good for any night; any others that were waiting for a better offer aren't telling. Does this mean Monday night, i.e. ramorra, in the Doric meets the requirements of all? 8.00ish or earlier? - I live in auld reekie so I'm easy.

Totally unrelated question - does anyone know how the Tories intend to "control" EU citizens (or others) from entering Eire perfectly legally and then heading north for a ferry to Cairnryan? If there is to be no border on land nor sea how does that take back control of immigration? Just asking.

I'll be back from Aberdeen in time now I think, so Tuesday would work for me now.

So is that next Tuesday, this Tuesday or was it last Tuesday.
I'm not sure the Galley of Lorne is the most central location but I'll do my best... :santa:

OK,

I intend to be in the Doric tonight (Tue 10/12/19). If my train's on time I should be there a few minutes before 2000. Hopefully see people there - if no-one turns up I'll just read my Private Eye in a corner.

Well, what a most enjoyable evening we had!

Great to catch up with old sailing friends: good to hear the unexpurgated accounts of rescue by the RNLI, pleased to get advanced notice of what could turn out to be a major boating event on the Clyde next May, always happy to hear first hand accounts of inaccuracies in our charts...................and all with seats in a central Edinburgh bar in December.

Looking forward to next years pre Christmas drinks already!

Okay, I'll change the line from "the unexpurgated accounts of rescue by the RNLI" to "the unexpurgated account of assistance offered by and accepted from the RNLI" Happy?

Not really. I think I better sign up with Geoff for his jamboree thingy to assuage my conscience.

Doesn't tempus fugit? It is that time of year again when the crème de la crème of the Scottish sailing diaspora attempt to agree a location and time for their annual meeting. As far as memory can recall the Doric has always hosted the multitude but this year it looks as if Zoom could be the answer. Would anyone, preferably with access to the pro version, like to suggest a day and time?

I don't have a pro version of Zoom any more, but I do have Microsoft Teams (similar to Zoom) and can host meetings. But it's poor at pouring beer, thinks gin is for gin poles, and wine is the noise made by a plane load of Poms landing in the Antipodes.
