Gentleman's Cruise 2020 - Virtual Edition

Post by Nick »

.
OK folks, we are all sat in the Lord of the Isles, pints in hand, Mull and Colonsay pilots on the table, forecast for ra morra is less than 10 knots from WSW - WNW, HW Oban is 13.20 and it is neaps. Light showers tomorrow, sunny all day Saturday.

Where shall we go?

Well, if they have Bellhaven Black on tap I’ll not be going anywhere much before noon...

Excellent idea Nick.
13:20 you say for HW Oban?
I think perhaps getting to Lochaline tomorrow then - will we aim to be at Pladda by 11 ish? - I know we will be pushing the tide around Duart but Wully's heed needs looking after and I'll never get Para up before 8.
Who else is signing up?
Perhaps as we have a decent forecast we might try for Coll, Gometra, Bull or Tinkers Hole - Colonsay if it isn't going to be bouncy otherwise scoosh through to Craighouse?

Bit of a sore heid and crew's ablutions took longer than normal, but we will no doubt catch you up shortly.

Spent the night behind Holy Isle and will round the MoK this evening ~18.00 when the tide is good and probably overnight in Ardminish Bay. Gie's a clue where you are heading so I can choose Sound of Islay or Luing tomorrow morning.

Just about to head through Cuan, planning to meet up with Clamore in Lochaline this afternoon. (He left LOTI early last night - can't take his drink the way he used to ). Should be at Duart round about slack water, neaps anyway, so not much of a problem.

Anyone heard anything from Silkie?

If you go through Islay Sound and overnight in Colonsay Saturday
Then head for Iona/Bunessan for Sunday and we skip over to Coll for Saturday and we head down to Iona/Bunessan - we ought to be meeting up on Sunday evening I think? Tinkers or the Bull...

I might as well aim for Coirebreachan - a virtual transit is not quite so wind/tide dependent as reality.

Well, I have to say we ran out of fair tide before we got to Duart so it was a fair old slog up into Loch Aline. Anyway we got about 6 ish and had a shower - they really are the business. Had a meal on board and deliberating whether to wander up to the Pub or sit and get pished here waiting for Nick...

I was wondering whether the pubs were virtually open on this virtual cruise.

Been anchored up past the beacon in Lochaline since mid-afternoon,l didn't see Claymore at all. How on earth did he take over 7 hours from Craobh to Lochaline?

The Ardbeg has bitten the dust.

We don't do pontoons. I'm anchored further up the loch but we've just pottered down in the dinghy with three hormonal teenagers. They're looking for beer and cider and I'm hoping that Claysie will offer me a dram...

Webbie - you're dragging. Watch my topsides!

Nah! The Spade never drags, you must be dragging upwind.
