I have them in my backstay, but the stay needs to be replaced (a strand astray).
But cannot get the insulators unscrewed. Have lubricated the thread, tries a little heat, no joy. And if I get one end undone, I fear I'd never get the other end off as there's nothing to turn against. There's nothing on the body to put a spanner on, only the stay studs at each end. Any brilliant suggestions?

Re: Backstay insulators
A strap wrench is my first thought but has probably been yours too. With sandpaper to improve the grip.
If that doesn't do it, how about a locknut on the undone thread (when you get one end off!)? Put it back with a nut on, tighten the nut on the insulator, take off the 2nd end, then there are 2 flats on the 1st end to allow that to be undone.
Pure speculation on my part. Good luck!

Sounds like galling to me Geoff. Which means you will probably have to destroy the wire terminal in order to save the insulator.
