Is it my imagination, or do those sails have a familiar greenish tint to them ?

It looks like the Flying Dutchman which is renowned in my circles for not straying beyond the Sound of Mull, anywhere between Oban and Tobermory. Occasionally to be found perched on the Scrat.

The background looks to me a lot more like Holland than Morvern but I'm not well enough acquainted with the flat country to identify the location.

Hmmm, yes the trees may be the giveaway there. I had a discussion with my husband* about the set up of the rigging and mast height -so ten years on this Forum have not been a total loss.

To be fair, I had to Google because a Schooner didn't fit (masts shorter from back to front) but Barque didn't seem to either, anyway the research seemed to suggest Barquentine is about right.
Seminole.

It is in Holland, on the Markermeer. This was our trip to the Isle of Man via Inverness where many of my ancestors camme from ;-) After 18 hours of bashing into a F6 Northerly we gave up and headed east to IJmuiden and had a glorious few weeks on the Markermeer and IJsselmeer. Here's some other photos from the same trip

Lovely pictures - but I hope the small hut at the end of the pier isn't what I think it is.
