DSC alerts today.

Post by aquaplane »

Motoring past Ardmore today I got regular DSC alerts for something 30 odd miles away bearing 017 degrees.
Stornoway were discussing a boat on a rock, no immediate peril but another yacht stood by until Oban Lifeboat got there.
After the fourth alert I got the chart out to see where the lat and long was.
Ah, the rock, north of Cleit in Cuan sound.
They got him off and towed somewhere safe.
Seminole.
Cheers Bob.

I believe that's the one called, at least unofficially, "Claymore's Rock".

It's a menace, it would greatly benefit from being marked, and is the only non-navigable waypoint I have marked on my chart plotter - with a red cross.
