The most beautiful destinations on the Baltic Sea

Post by Trismus37 »

Hello everybody,
We are a married couple from Poland. For more than 10 seasons we have been sailing at the Baltic Sea. We have visited about 200 harbors and anchorages and lately we got an idea to share our knowledge with other sailors. A few months ago we started to write a Sailing Photoblog. We write about the most beautiful places we have visited. Spots that can be easily missed when cruising from one well known destination to another. The blog is written in Polish but there are many photos as well. Besides, everybody can use automatic google translator nowadays. The translations are a bit funny sometimes, but if someone is interested in a certain place, it is worth trying.
You are welcome to visit our blog:
http://www.photovoyage.pl/index.php?lan ... ailingblog

and if you would be interested in getting some more info about any place mentioned on the photoblog or generally about sailing on Baltic, please send us an e-mail.
We put news almost once a week and always announce that on our Facebook, so if you like, join us there as well.

Best wishes from Poland
Agnieszka and Wlodek

Hi Agnieszka and Wlodek

Welcome to BlueMoment. Thre are some great pictures in your blog; I just wish I could read the writing. I translated your first post with automatic translation software and I have a question - do you need a holding tank in the Baltic?

The Baltic's quite big and has a fair few countries on its shores so I doubt there's one set of regulations throughout.

We had a holding tank on our holiday in the Stockholm Archipealago and it was certainly typical for boats there to have one. No idea if the law required it or if it was just good manners. Mind you, you'd never have to share an anchorage with another boat so nobody would know what your toiletting habits were.

Some pics here,

Not as good as Agnieszka and Wlodek's but I like 'em.

On the subject of which, thanks Agnieszka and Wlodek. Can't read the words but the images are superb. A real privalage to see them. Thankyou for sharing them.

Hi Nick,
As far as we know yes, you need a holding tank on Baltic - you should use it near the coast and in the harbors. Most of the countries lying around Baltic have this rule, but there are some exceptions. If your boat is very old, or smaller than 10 meters, and such things. Another story is that not everybody has got the holding tank and nobody cares. In some regions (eastern countries - Poland and Baltic states) it is really difficult to find marinas with the stations to get the black water out. In Finland and Sweden most yachts, even small motor boats have tanks and use them. In most popular bays - natural harbors one can find floating stations with hand pumps

Before we went I didn't actually know anything about the Baltic but my research suggested the Stockholm Archipelago was the one of the better cruising grounds. Certainly suited my tastes.

Finnish Archipelago for us next time then!
