Thu 4 Dec suits me. It's within the general Scottish winter festival that starts on 30 Nov and finishes 25 Jan...

Seems to me that the sort of place you desire would be less likely to have a 'highpoint of the evening'

Clocks have gone back - time to start Brexit style negotiations over the when and where of the annual Ed'burg festive get-together? My "red lines" are not in w/c 18/12; all EU citizens have full round buying rights; and the North Channel 'tween Noriron and Scotland should be maintained.

If we were looking at the week before, I can't make We 13 or Thu 14.

The Lazarus thread, yet again, welcome back old friend

I'm very flexible about drinks and drinking.
What about a new venue?
Should we try to be more inclusive for our out of town brethren, what about a new town hostelry rather than in the old town?

And as for Brexit, spit. I'm now an Irish citizen so does that make me unwelcome. No Irish, dogs, or tinkers?

Which bit of "all EU citizens have full round buying rights" makes you feel unwelcome? As far as I'm concerned you should feel free to define the venue and the date - in fact, I propose Ocklepoint as organiser. Any seconders?

Might I suggest the Oban Inn as a venue?

Just a tad far for us who live in the effete east though. Maybe two separate events are in order.

Is the Oban Inn north or south of the Nor'Loch, Old town or New Town, there is no east or west

It occurs to me that the majority, if not all, of those who might want to celebrate the Yulish Moment in a blue sort of way are probably possessors of a charabanc pass.

Perhaps that puts the "Oban Inn" within reach. We could take tents...........or sleep on other people's boats

Or maybe it's back to Plan A

There are far too many individualists in sailing in general and on this forum in particular.

I'm up for the Oban Inn if it could be the evenings of 23,24,25/11 or 8,9/12 but not all of them.

:cheers

Or I could do Edinburgh at these times too. :santa:

I'm delighted that The Oban Inn has re-emerged onto the vibrant cultural scene but it's a bit of a trek for a few pints of beer. Of the dates Silkie suggests I could do any except 23/11 when I have an appointment to drink beer and eat curry, so I think the December dates are better for me. Any bar where quality ales are served is fine by me.

Of the dates suggested above suiting Silkie & Ken, I could make 25/11, 8/12, and 9/12. (I'm assuming Edinburgh, rather than Oban.)
