Been onboard looking at boats for sale recently and am astonished at what some folk think a manky, worn out, run down, smelly relic is worth...

Lockers crammed with mouldering scottish excrement, sticky galley surfaces, greasy rusty corroded engines, stained upholstery, droopy headlining, filthy rust stained bilges, minging toilets, cabins reeking of dog with cast of fur in evidence...

Only one boat was actually clean inside.

It's going to be a long hunt...

So you've not seen Blue Shift yet then?
Back on the market after osmosis discovery. Planning to get that fixed ourselves but if you want to offer a price with osmosis treatment adjustment, I'm all ears. Or hang on till it's been done.

We looked at a few boats at Largs, nominally quite decent on paper. Nobody appears to put any effort into them once they are for sale?. Mouldy green decks /fittings/ropes. One looked like a squat. Dirty sleeping bags, beer bottles lying around, unwashed curry in the sink, heads full & blocked ..Unbelievable!
The sort of place you stick to the floor with every step. Ugh.

Finding something decent is not going to be easy.

Meets all current needs admirably but a life of idle debauchery such as your good self enjoys financed by years of hard graft ( in my case at least) is beckoning.

The Eclipse 33 is a perfect boat for us for local cruising over the short term in the balmy west coast of Scotland but lacks the legs and victualling capacity for longer range, longer duration jaunts. A 5 bottle drinks locker with a Gordons gin bottle shaped holder was obviously designed for fowk of less refined tastes and appetites..

So, new boatie will be at least 3 feet longer but no more than 40 ft. Will have moderate draft. Will not require climbing over ones pillows to get into bed. Will have a sheltered steering position. Will not be some modern, fat ar5€d flimsy, square IKEA furnished, twin wheeled , bouncy decked, slab sided AWB..
And will have a drinks cabinet of sufficient capacity that it will survive a visit on board of your good self.

The final point may prove difficult to achieve...

Suggestions for what mah new wee boatie will / should be greatfuly received- as long as they don't start with Halberg Rassy...

Yes, but No.

The layout doesn't suit. ( bog layout does not make sense) Being as rare as rocking horse $h1t they are pricey and will need a significant spend to bring up to standard.

The one in JWD was looked at.

There is an interesting looking twin-engined voyager 40 sitting in Tarbert (LF) which I believe was coming on the market.

I spoke to the yard, but didn't visit as really too big for us.
