NASA Target HF3W SSB Receiver - Can You Listen To BBC Radio
Re: NASA Target HF3W SSB Receiver - Can You Listen To BBC Ra
Yes, R4 comes through fine on 198 kHz, and 5 Live on 909. Nice little radio. Bought a 2nd hand one recently and have been playing around receiving weather faxes using a neat little app (HF Weather Fax) on my android tablet that generates the image just by putting its microphone close enough to the radio for it to hear the data transmission. Recommended by someone else on here while ago I think. It works remarkably well. In fact, I've become so intrigued by the possibilities that I am now looking at 'software defined radios' which seem to be the latest craze among the ham community.

That radio does two modes.
SSB (which can be either USB or LSB) and AM
The R4 you want on 198 (long wave) is an AM signal and this radio covers that.
It also does the AM band that covers stations such as mentioned already.
What it will not do is FM or digital, so if you want any of those modes, this isn't the radio for you.
There's a button on the front to switch between modes.
