On Friday the tides were just right for getting round Jura. Adrian and I left Craobh at about 0700 and carried the ebb down the Sound of Jura. Some tidal popple in places, but not the unpleasant wind against tide conditions I was half expecting. The south end of Jura was reached just as the tide turned and the flood then took us up the Sound of Islay and (very weakly) up the west side of Jura. The entrance to the Corryvreckan was reached just as the tide turned again, and the new ebb took us into the Gulf where we anchored in the Bay of Pigs at about 1900.
On Saturday a mid-morning start took us out into the strong ebb (> 10 knots over the ground) followed by a genoa run over to Craobh to get snugly tied up before the onset of the forecast rain and gale.
By no means an epic trip, but very satisfying nevertheless.

I saw you in the LOTI last Thursday evening but was eating with a gang. By the time I was able to wander you were gone. Anyway, cheers.

Aye, we'd eaten on the road up (at the Tyndrum pub - under new management and IMHO a distinct improvement) and just called into the LOTI for a quick pint and to book a table for the Saturday night. A wise move - on Saturday the place was heaving.aquaplane wrote:I couldn't have put it better myself.claymore wrote:Nice one, Davey
