I have been planning to write a stiff letter to PBO extolling the virtue of a long painter at busy pontoons to allow more in.
There's also the question of tieing to a cleat. A bowline loop allows others to share, specially flexible if later arrivals feed their loop through previous loops. Does that make sense?
Not sure if it is still the case but the hotel used to serve more down to earth fare.

Agree with the dinghy tie-up protocol. We have a real problem at our club where the granny bars (yes we do need them) are regularly blocked by short painters and a gordian knot.
It doesn't matter how many newsletters or re-ties occur, it doesn't seem to occur to folks that they are not the only users of the facility.
