Cockpit cushions? What decadence! You'll have Mark peeling grapes for you next.

In my dreams!

1) the cushion cushions essentially came free with a brand new sprayhood courtesy of the retiring sailmaker from Rival so were too good a bargain to pass by. (all for under £100 incl postage)

2) they are to be wrapped firmly in plastic and stored in deep stowage in the cockpit locker. When are we ever to get chance to sit and watch the sunset in the cockpit before retirement? we sail with a 7yr old and 2yr old!
The only time we are alone in the cockpit is during nights sails eg entering Campbeltown loch at 0300hrs or when it's so rough that the children prefer to go below to watch DVDs or listen to audiobooks (eg Loch Maddy to Mallaig earlier this year).

I hear that the South of France is very relaxing, can you advise?

If you are still in the hunt for someone to make new cushions, you might like to see in Jackson's is still there in Argyle Street. They are the shop mentioned in one of the earlier posts as "near the old bus station". That is, to the west of Central station about 2 blocks and opposite the shop (Victor Morris, suppliers to all the neds in Glasgow) that sells an alarming range of musical instruments, audio equipment and lethal weapons. Unless they have been closed down.

I noticed this was posted in May so it may be a bit late now. I used the following for my Rival 41C, all cushions (aft cabin, pilot berth, U shaped saloon seat, long saloon seat, all foam, coverings, buttons, velcro, seats and back rests, infill cushions and chart table seat: everything except the fore cabin, two visits to the boat, £1800.

Thanks for the further suggestions. I work near to Carluke so I might well get in touch with Stuart Upholstery.

Best Wishes

What happens when you get new cushions? Should I say when you have new cushions made, it won't be a DIY job.

Do you take the old ones to the upholsterer or do they come to the boat to measure up as for a spray hood?

Jessail was highly recommended on TOP so they may get the job.

Replaced the upholstery in a Rival 32 4 years back. Used Jessail in Ardrossan.
Excellent service. They went to Rhu to measure up, despite me giving drawings ("want to be very sure"), excellent fit, great material on the surface. It is waterproof, but feels like soft cloth, breathes, washes clean, doesn't stain. Can't remember the name of the stuff.

4 years on, still look like new. Very please. Good price.
