volvo penta 2 cylinder 2002 valve timing

Dose anyone know how you set the cam valve timing on this engine. I am rebuilding it and there is no mention on the Manuel how or where the marks are. Thanks Ellis.

I can't say, but I'm interested in the answer since I have two of these: one on the boat and one in the garage.

yes thanks, that's the only thing i can find. no real referance to cam timing

Does the sentence Install the camshaft and make sure that the markings on the camshaft gear wheel and on the crankshaft
gear wheel coincide not cover it?

From the sound of the OP I think Ellis is having trouble identifying any marks.

I've restored a few old engines in the past, and identifying timing marks can be difficult.
I often use light grade sandpaper on flywheels, gear wheels or wherever they are to clean them up and get some contrast to see them.
Its pretty rare that they disappear totally, they just become less visible.

Thanks for that, i had checked before but some how seem to have missed them. there are 2 spot punch marks on the crank and cam gears and they line up with tdc. thanks a lot Ellis
