What great sailing weather.......

Post by Telo »

We've just had a long weekend in fabulous weather - great sailing on Saturday and Sunday, bit less wind on Monday. Missed Silkie at Dallens Bay (parked beside his car), and Nick by a day at Tobermory, but met up with Sahona and Kieta. With a NW breeze on Sunday night, Ardtornish Bay was a wonderful setting for a peaceful night at anchor. The sun goes down early in that bay, but was warm enough to sit out until late.

by the time it gets to Wed 25th and I'm heading west (Oban via Canal, for Round Mull Race).... it can't last can it???

I see the Clipper Round the world, NY to Derry leg are complaining of no wind in the Atlantic. Great weather for sitting atop Rockall !

Hope it does last a wee while longer - number 1 son is sailing FAB (Faroes and back) in prep for next year's AZAB.

Be good to go past Rockall and wave to the guy sitting o there for 60 days http://www.rockallsolo.com/

Is FAB an organised cruise in company, race or solo endeavour?
I'd love to go there some time.

It's just the two of them on Dragon, which lives on a mooring on Loch Seaforth in Harris, so since they needed to do a qualifying voyage, and neither has been to the Faroes, it seemed like a good idea. Looking at the wind charts it looks like they're getting 15 knots of West wind on their beam, so not too trying at the moment.

Just back from a bloody amazing one week skippered charter.

Dunstaffnage - Lochaine - Tobermory - Arinagour (Coll) - Lunga - Gometra Harbor - Bunessan - Tinkers Hole - Caolas Mor (Oronsay) - Craighouse - Craobh - Puilladobrain - Oban - Port Appin - Dunstaffnage

Never seen folks get so much moneysworth.

I wish it had been cloudy, the two of us are skelpit with sunburn, Tilley bunnets could do with being full length!

Wind has been 120 , 20+

Perfect sailing.

You can tell he's a thrill seeker from the trampoline in his garden. That must be a real buzz.
