Number one son (plus a couple of friends) has kindly agreed to take Albion from Dallens Bay to Loch Seaforth in Harris (where friends have a spare mooring) so that we can have a more leisurely sail back after HebCelt.
Heard from him last night. After an 04.15 start from Oban, he was in Tobermory by 10.30, climbed the mast to replace a split pin, then carried on to Port Mor, Muck, by evening. All this almost entirely under sail including his favourite, the mizzen staysail.
Kids today, eh?

Re: Well done, son...
well done. It can be daunting as a young person. (I'm assuming young?) I remember as a teenager taking my fathers boat out first time and beyond sight of land I got a bit panicky. Got over it, and enjoyed it, but can't forget that feeeling of "what am I doing here? Who can I run to?".
Geoff.

Yep, they're all 18 or19, and at SAMS studying Marine Science.
They are currently off Eigg waiting for wind.
I am in no way jealous you understand...

Well, the intrepid band have now reached Lochboisdale and are "celebrating" in the hotel. Now well ahead of schedule and aiming to sail gently Northwards over the next day or three.
