Don't be alarmed but the south red perch on the way into Tobermory bay is missing. If you've got Antares charts, you will be able to find the concrete block that it used to stand on.

Surely that should read you'll be able to miss the concrete block that it used to stand on?

Hmm. It's not shown on my old laptop CMap and the other stuff is all on the boat, so, remind us where it was, and is the concrete now a real hazard? I assume it's near Eilan Dneanish?

If you can see the concrete you'll hit the bottom; if you can't see the concrete, you will probably hit it. Wait until someone else is going in and follow them.

Re: Doirlinn Tobermory
But but but, I don't remember ever taking notice of anything going into Tobermory (apart from the Stirks if I was coming that way) Don't tell me this is another jaggy bit I've been sailing over for years with impunity while others get impaled.
Go on, give us an L.L. I'll probably forget to look at the stuff aboard by the time I get there...

Thanks. Didn't know you could go in that way, worth a bit of tidal rock-hopping.
It is on my CMap after all, just not where I was looking!

Re: Doirlinn Tobermory
Hi John. Probably no need this year as the crowds will be in Glasgow watching the tiddleywinks, but it does seem a quiet place to go in the right conditions if it's busy in town.
I assume you'll be out and about for a while from now on, (work being a four-letter word) so hopefully our wakes will cross soon - looking forward to it.
