Giving up sailing

Post by nealsett »

Our sailing career has run its course and my wife and I are moving to horizons new. Anyone interested in buying our yacht : 1982 Maxi 84 afloat Craobh. Well equipped and includes all the gear. Needs to go as we will be too far away to look after her. Jim at the marina has all the spec. or pm me.

Not much interest in our Maxi 84 to date. I guess the market is still slow and the sailing season has not yet begun. However we do need to sell her and are keen to see her settled with a new owner as soon as possible. We will just not be anywhere near to look after her. Is there someone out there looking for a good boat at a bargain price?

I fear you may have to actually say what the bargain price is to get people interested.

I checked the boat out on Apolloduck and frankly you are asking a lot of money for an elderly 27-footer which has not been re-engined.

I know it is heartbreaking, but the bottom really has dropped out of the market for sub-30ft boats. I have a friend who is selling his Vega which has been re-engined, re-rigged and is in top condition for £8,500 ; and that is all I could realistically hope to get for my own boat in these troubled times.

It is a very good time though for anyone wanting to start cruising on a budget, with a wealth of seaworthy small yachts suitable for serious cruising available for four figures.

Thanks for your comments. I never think of her as elderly and she is 28 feet [the extra foot makes all the difference.] The advertised price on Apollo Duck is based on my comparison of other Maxi 84 yachts for sale and advice received. I had to start somewhere. Susak is a great sailing boat and has lots of kit included. However, she has to go, and as I do not control the market, so I will consider any genuine offer. I would only be heartbroken if I did not find an new owner for Susak who will appreciate her as much as we have done.

She's a youngster compared to my own boat, which was built in 1973.

I hope you find a buyer who will enjoy her as much as you have obviously done.

Susak our Maxi 84 has been reduced in price to £10995. Easily the best price on the net for one of these Swedish cruising yachts. Full details on Appollo Duck or from Jim at Craobh. Still comes with all the kit advertised. Serviced pontoon berth at Craobh Haven marina paid for until July2014.

Had a bit of interest in Susak, but no-one ready to write a cheque out just yet. So she is still available.

Susak has now been sold to a local new owner. We are pleasantly gutted.
