Crew Needed for Easter 2013 Cruise - Gosport to Weymouth
Crew Needed for Easter 2013 Cruise - Gosport to Weymouth
Seeking 1 female crew member or a couple to join us at Easter for a 4 day cruise, 29/03/13 to 01/04/13 from Gosport to Weymouth and return. Must be familiar with basic rope work when berthing, and have some previous sailing experience. My wife & I are in our late 50’s, have over 15000 miles experience and sail a 2006 Beneteau 393. Would welcome some spare hands for a leisurely cruise as part of a rally being organised by our yacht club. Shared expenses likely to be between £15 to £20 per day, plus evening meals ashore.
Please send a Personal Message if you have interest, with a brief description about yourself and sailing expeirence, and I will send further information.

Sorry about the delay in approving your post. Sometimes they're not too easy to spot.

Taken a week to approve ?
Maybe that is why this forum is not used much ?
I filled my crew need with the ybw.com forum within 24hrs. So no longer have need for this post.

Oh Silkie, you've caused us all to miss out on a fabulous opportunity.gjbentley wrote:Taken a week to approve ?

Tiss funny that one of the 'complaints' on YBW is that new forumites need a number of posts to be moderated so that there is a delay before each one appears.

Note to Nick - Consider making a week the minimum time for approval of a new poster as a easy way of sorting the wheat from the chaff?

I must be missing something. Don't we want posts from new posters checked and viewable ASAP? A minimum week lag seems crazy.Silkie wrote:Note to Nick - Consider making a week the minimum time for approval of a new poster as a easy way of sorting the wheat from the chaff?
Ideally you'd want "60 seconds maximum" but that might be a little hard on the mods!

I think Silkie was commenting tongue in cheek about the irascible nature of gjbentley, who apparently doesn't realise that there is not a moderation team constantly monitoring this forum.Mark wrote:I must be missing something. Sadly the forum tweak that automatically notified the moderators of new registrations bit the dust several software revisions ago. An alternative is admin approval of all new registrations, but that is more intrusive than the current system of approving the first post.
Silkie and I need to make sure that every time we log on we scan right down the list of forums in case we have missed any new posts waiting for approval. Checking the 'Our Newest Member' notification at the bottom of the forum home page can also be useful . . . for example, I see we have a new member who hasn't posted yet, so I can make a mental note to keep an eye out for it.

I'm convinced that the little green question mark device doesn't always appear immediately on the board index. I was away from Thursday afternoon but but would have been on at least a dozen times since the OP time and always scan the entire index. Green isn't the most obvious colour but I find it hard to believe that I missed it so many times.Nick wrote:Silkie and I need to make sure that every time we log on we scan right down the list of forums in case we have missed any new posts waiting for approval.

One snarky comment occasionally is nothing to worry about.
Keep the riff-raff filter set at max!
Having a go at volunteers who support this forum isn't a great way to introduce yourself
If it was so bloomin urgent, I'm sure he could have contacted you both earlier

You shouldn't blame the tools, what's needed is carrot and stick.Silkie wrote:I'm convinced that the little green question mark device doesn't always appear immediately on the board index. Well - good for you. I hope she turned out to be the woman of your dreams, gives you a blow job and fekked up yer marriage you stuffy sod.gjbentley wrote:Taken a week to approve ?

Unlike YBW this is not a fully funded extension of a yachting publisher, more a place for a few friends to chew the breeze and share an online bond.
I really hope the moderators don't moderate this and that you take as much offence as you possibly could. Piss off.
Regards
Claymore
