Antifreeze
When laying up the boat for the winter one replaces the sea water in the engine with a diluted mix of antifreeze. One then removes the impeller. To do so involves first draining the pump into a small container. The quantity of antifreeze so collected is just about the right amount to pour into the bog to stop it freezing.
