There we were, sailing along with effortless ease and aplomb (I was ahem helm), tacking to make Spithill and Ainslie astonished, when some wretch on another boat asked "did you get her on eBay?".
Is this normal for the Lake District? All I can say is that the auld goat was fair offended and, for once, I can only agree.
Greeting from fellow sailors
Re: Greeting from fellow sailors
Further consideration leads me to believe that the greeter was inquiring after the crew, provided by ebay's crew service?
Some, there were 3 of us, were buy it now's, the auld goat didn't pass his reserve.
An easy mistake to make. The Muzz's oiliies were the best of a bad bunch but due to the cramped cockpit space, the auld goat's fat airse left little room, the Muzz was standing, half concealed, in the companion way. My garments were 20 years old and looked it. Himsel's were provided by the 1964 UK Olympic organisers, inscribed with "Olympic Coach". The labour lot ran us out of money, much like the last lot and in austerity GB they saved money by issuing the same jacket to Coach Drivers, Coach Passengers, Coach Luggage, Coach Class and expected Dear Hearts to embroider the rest on.
As I said, an easy mistake to make. The tell tales were the black wellies; who else but an eBay crew would ware such tat?

Re: Greeting from fellow sailors
Because I was so shocked at this, I investigated what ebay had to offer and I have to say that the boats on offer are no comparison to my friend's. Here is an example which some fool, perhaps the one who greeted us, offered what seems an inordinate amount of cash. If so, he might have hailed us with the intention of making my friend an offer?
