Replacemnt landmark - almost

Post by pagoda »

We were out and about last week in the Clyde and Loch Fyne, and noticed in the odd glimpses of sun an absolutely MASSIVE wind turbine under construction south of Fairlie.
It can be seen for a very long way, not as good as Kip's lum, but could have it's uses for navigation at times.
Apparently an experimental installation of a 6 MW offshore generator.
How long it will be there I don't know , but the other turbines on the nearby hills look like matchsticks by comparison!!!
Is this a precursor to planting these monsters around our west coast?

Sailed past it several times during construction. Yes it's a biggy!
