Mooring Buoys - Arran

Can anyone advise whether the mooring buoys in Lochranza are/will be in place by Easter. Last year when we visited Brodick the mooring buoys were still in winter storage but nasty pieces of polyprop from the seabed to temporary marker buoys were there instead.

No sign of any moorings a few days ago. The Easterly winds have finally gone, but been replaced by the more traditional F5+ SW..
I saw the maintenance float/work platform for the Lamlash moorings lying by the RNLI shed.. not obviously in use, So it may well be into May before any get into commission?

Brodick & LochRanza are out more or less as normal.

Vistors moorings are up and running as normal at Lamlash - they are available most if not all months of the year and payable to Jim @ Holy Isle Ferry office who took them over from AYC a couple of years ago and is replacing, refurbishing & adding to them as funds allow.
The platform is deployed as & when necesssary by local diver to maintain/lay moorings.
AYC are getting a brand new shed & clubhouse this summer
Council should have reattached free moorings at Brodick by now - sorry can't help with Lochranza

15 or 16 buoys in Brodick - free gratis and for nothing, plus plenty of good anchoring space. It was a popular place to be on Saturday night.

Brodick is a very useful spot for the crazy golf (according to our son). Unfortunately we discovered they remove the moorings over the winter last year hence our original query prior to this Easter about Loch Ranza as we suspected they would take them out there too, and they did. You can see a photo of us looking for them on page 45 of June's Yachting Life!!

With the moorings gone, surely there's plenty of room to anchor? We suffered through not having enough swing room to put out a decent scope when they were in use.

No sadly not as they leave the blocks in,attached with polypropylene to small marker buoys on the surface. I'm sure if we'd tried really hard we could have found a space to anchor but decided we would just go on to Campbeltown instead. That's the nice thing about the Clyde, lots of options, isn't it?
