Thanks Dave, I'd missed the Scuttlebutt post. The moorings will probably fine in settled weather. In a strong northerly or northeasterly even being in the harbour is unpleasant to the point of being untenable (I know, but don't want to recount the experience...).
In anything with an "N" in it, anchoring in (South) Carradale Bay is infinitely preferable. Which, incidentally, I hope remains mooring free. Very good anchorage, imho.
