Weather and the Mariner Survey

Hi all,

I am final stage student studying Navigation and Maritime Science and I am doing a dissertation on how leisure mariners obtain weather forecasts for the UK waters and I would be grateful if you could spare a few minutes to complete my survey. I have posted about this before on this forum and I got a pretty good response but could do with a few more responses if possible.

I am incredibly grateful to those who have already completed it and to those who intend to!!

A quick brief on the survey:
- 18 questions, mostly in a closed format, although there are a few open format questions also.
- Deals with sailing experience, type of sailing and preferred methods of obtaining forecasts.

I must say that all responses are treated in the strictest confidence and at no point are you required to give your name.

People, I am sure, will be pleased to help, but may I ask whether this has replaced the similar survey posted by MSC in an earlier thread?

This may be causing confusion. Also, if some people have responded to both, and the data from both are used in the same project, surely the results will be weighted towards those who have responded twice?

No this project is independent of MSC's project but thank you for highlighting this.

By the looks of it we are on similar courses but I am at Plymouth Uni whereas MSC is at Portsmouth Uni.

Looking for a link between the use of technology and access to forecasts

Perhaps its just Navtex doing some market research?

Thank you both for completing the survey. Apologies if you have filled out too many similar questionnaires, these forums are a great source for opinions. Rest assured though that it is independent of Navtex!! Purely for my own research!
