Dundee - Oslo anybody?

Subject: Alliance Trust Amundsen-Scott Challenge







This may be of interest to some of you, via our club secretary.


Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing on behalf of the Royal Tay Yacht Club and the Royal Norwegian Yacht Club who are hosting this event in July this year. the race is sponsored by Alliance Trust. There will be a pursuit race followed by a cruise in company from Oslo to Dundee (the Fram to the Discovery) to mark the polar expeditions of just over 100 years ago by Roald Amundsen and Robert Scott. We are looking for a fleet of 20 to 30 yachts, a mixture of Norwegian and UK vessels. Both clubs have arranged an excellent social programme in Oslo and Dundee to make this a memorable experience for all participants.
I am hoping you can raise awareness of this event to your members by a mention in your newsletter or by printing and displaying the attached poster. I also attach the Notice of Race and an entry form for interested parties.
Norway is easily accessible from the east coast of the UK and the northern isles. The Forth/Clyde and the Caledonian Canals make the event accessible to west coast yachts. A skipper participating in the event will find it challenging, enjoyable and a highly rewarding experience.

Typical east coast arrogance - what eejit thought it was a good idea to run their race on the same weekend as Billy Forteith's Round Mull Race. North Sea or nights in Tobermory and at the ceilidh in Bunessan - nae competition. I know where Marisca will be!
