I'm planning west to east round the MoK between 26th and 30th Sept. (Dunstaffnage to Rhu), but have left the tidal flows booklets on board.
Does anyone have the info handy? ie optimum time relative to HW Oban, Greenock, Dover (or some such point)
Probably stop at Gigha night of Thursday 27th, and go round Friday 28th, doing Gigha to Cambeltown.
Last year on this trip, while waiting for wind to drop, got laid over on the side in Gigha (on a V mooring, no sails up!), with wind from west (offshore). Could not believe how fast a gust came up and then disappeared again. It was pretty windy though, but that one gust!!

My seaweed says the tide goes good inshore at ~04.00BST on Friday 28th - bloody antisocial, eh? If http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=nwdc;sess= can be believed it should be light W/NW with about 12C and a chance of rain.

I'd give it a wee bit longer to get it flowing well and for the slop from the westward flow to die away.
.... and I would double check my figures

Re: Tides round the MoK
Thanks, thats near enough for now. Means easier arrangements on getting to the start point (as not sailing back, don't want my car stranded on west coast), and timing of trains etc easier. If I'd been pushing for a morning rounding, then would be a long sail or two southwards.
