shooting the tide

Post by mm5aho »

Misreading the tide tables yesterday, we'd decided to overnight in Ardinamir (sp?) near Cuan Sound, and get through (west bound) in the morning. Then on checking, discovered that we'd misread the tables by using related to Oban instead of to Greenock. So, that would have meant waiting until about 1200 today. So we chanced it and motored through about 45mins after the ebb started.
We made it! 6.5kn on water, 1.5kn GPS at west end!
Passed 1 boat in the sound and several just entering eastbound. They must have thought us mad! First time I've ever passed a yacht in Cuan Sound going the other way!

Did you ride uphill when you were past the Cleit?
