Well she breezed through her pre-purchase survey, so I'm about to send off the cheque to finalise the purchase of my first yacht, a 32 ft MacWester Wight, so soon I'll be a very inexperienced yacht owner!
Anyway, the reason I'm asking for help is that she's in the Moray Firth and I've got to get her down to the Solway Firth, so weather permitting the plan is to sail her down the Caledonian Canal, and down the west coast via the Crinan canal into the Solway. I won't be back in the UK until August, so I'm planning to start this trip in mid August before returning to work on the 22nd, so if any of you kindly and wise Scottish forumites fancy an all expenses paid trip please let me know.
Regards,
Paul

Re: Looking for help in Scotland
I could possibly be available to assist you for at least part of the trip. I also have a Macwester but mine is a Rowan 8meter based in Peterhead. Where about is your new purchase based at the moment?
I did practically the same trip in reverse when I bought Rowana in Irvine - Crinan, night in Ardfern, Dunstafnage, up to the start of the Cale Canal, Fort Agustus, Inverness, Burghead, Whitehills, Peterhead.
I am going to try and get away for a couple of weeks round the Moray Firth next week sometime, but I should be back towards the end of July.
Give me a rough outline of your plans, and I'll see how I'm placed.
Jim

Paul,
I would have helped but I return to work on the 07 of August. I also have my IWCF exam on the Sept / Oct leave. Fair winds. Don't push it if your strapped for time and the season gets late. You know the score: take time for safety!
Cheers,

.
We'll be around in August and could maybe give you a hand through the Crinan if you are short-handed.

Thanks for all the replies, as I've just explained on my YBW thread my access here has been pretty patchy, but I'll do my best to get in touch with everyone ASAP.
