I am delighted to hear that the Oban Bay Marina will go ahead. Ideal for stocking up on pies before heading West.

My skin is thick. If we academics were a bit better at our jobs, "academic" wouldn't mean "pointless, impractical or irrelevant".

I fondly recall slogans of the AUT (the now-replaced trade union for academics in the pre-1990's universities). There was the catchy "Britain needs its universities" and the unforgettable if esoteric "Rectify the anomaly".

As a retired academic, I find "pointless, impractical or irrelevant" quite inappropriate whereas before retirement ...

Why stock up in Oban? - the pie shop in Tobermory is one of its few delights.

Does this and the Orkney hint mean you are finally escaping the mud and squalor? When can we expect to see you?
