Escape from Clachan Sound - 3.5th time lucky

1. Grevious Dinghily Harm as already documented.

2. Thursday afternoon 3/5/12 - Engine misbehaved. Got it ashore and fixed by Stoddarts but couldn't get it re-installed in time for Friday's tide.

3a) Saturday afternoon 5/5/12 - Dropped mooring and headed south but GPS issue left me with no track to follow. Picked up mooring again and pushed buttons with a increasing fear that I might be on some kind of Flying Dutchman mooring, never to escape.

3b) Dropped mooring again and with the help of the GPS and John's hand-drawn chart we made it safely out. One high point was, for a few seconds, thinking we would sail through someone's garden until I realised I was seeing floating islands of grass cuttings that some humourist had dumped into the Sound to drift across the channel.

Glad to hear that you escaped.

I hadn't realised that you had parked 'Silkie' so far into uncharted waters. Were you hiding from the Revenue Men?

Where will you be based throughout the summer?

Back home at Dunstaffnage - why would anyone want to be anywhere else?

There was a Hurley22 long keeler launched at the yard yesterday.
Very strong looking boat.
The owner was telling my mate that a female is currently sailing one across the atlantic.
Do any of you guys know of this trip?

I think it's been mentioned in Sailing Today. Their tame surveyor, Nick Vass, is a big Hurley man ...
