I just checked Adblocker and the bubbles file is still there so I feel no qualms in posting this. I am writing this from a private room in the Murrayfield Hospital* having been TURPed yesterday. No pains, discomfort or anything and my flow rate is now prodigious. Don't know what the fuss was about or why I didn't get it done years ago when the quack first suggested it. I think the biggest problem will be not doing things - apparently a kettle is the heaviest thing I should lift for the next 2 weeks so I guess that lobbing liferafts, sails, and all the other bits of boat back on board will have to wait.

Isn't it just a quid-pro-quo for allowing private health companies access to NHS facilities? I wouldn't feel guilty if I were you.

I know everyone has been most concerned for our comrade's wellbeing, and you will all be pleased to know Marisca was seen aboard his very clean and well-fettled looking vessel this morning. He seemed to be handling his equipment with ostentatious ease. By the time we came back after a short sail in the sunshine he was nowhere to be seen. Arrested, possibly?

It takes about four weeks to make a full recovery, so if it is done in March you should be OK for the start of the sailing season.

So would one be incapacitated during this said four weeks, or just painfully peeing blood while wincing with pain Nick?
I was appointed to go for this treatment or something similar (maybe the camera) about a year ago but after my missus, a nurse said it was extreemly painful I cancelled it and now spend half my time peeing and the other half thinking about peeing.
Guess I will have to face up to it sooner or later.

Fear not! I too was led to believe pain and incapacity was the expected outcome and I too chickened out previously. My procedure was carried out with a "Green Light" laser, a bit of a surprise as I was expecting a crude apple-coring device. Result - no pain whatsoever. I woke up with a catheter, drank copious quantities of water and the blood content of the bags was low enough to allow removal the next day and I was ejected from the hospital. I'm supposed to refrain from straining, cycling etc. for 2 weeks and not go daft for 2 weeks after that. I'm still drinking lots and I piss blood clots every so often but it's getting less. Frequency and urgency is beginning to diminish and the flow rate is vastly improved. Today is 1 week from the operation and I was down on the boat without my guardian and I'm planning my exodus from PE for 1st April.
So my advice is make sure it is a laser procedure, don't look it up on the internet 'cos it's full of septics moaning about their operation, and really you have nothing to fear but fear itself.

Mind me asking, was yours done privatly or NHS?
Just wondering if the NHS use the laser weapon, or should that read, laser on the weapon

It was NHS but done in Murrayfield private hospital. When I asked the surgeon he said if it had been done in the Western Gen. or St Johns he would have used exactly the same equipment. Why the private hospital? No idea except Lothian has just been caught massaging waiting lists by offering very short notice ops, then marking rejections as no-shows - and I said yes to 1 week's notice.

After my acute dose of Prostatitis in Decmeber requiring emergency hospital admission, i've been left with chronic problems .. still on antibiotics and Tamulosin but the quack recommends Quercetin, might be of interest to thos suffering with such issues.
