Re: Drinks
Midweek and late Nov / early Dec likely to be quieter than weekend (esp. Friday) nearer to Christmas what with all the office parties etc.

A Friday evening?
25th November?
2nd December?

Re: Drinks
I could make either of these dates, but (I state my interest as a semi-retired person somewhat less thirled than the fully employed to the Mon - Fri cycle) choosing a Friday does inevitably mean more bodies.
However, I recognise that I am probably (possibly?) in a minority, so...
On a second issue, taking Shard's point re. the Doric's upstairs restaurant / downstairs bar, would it be worth settling on two parallel start times for eaters / drinkers and purist drinkers respectively? (These need not be very far apart, early purist drinkers safeguarding seats for eaters subsequently moving downstairs.) Or is this all getting a bit too organised?

Re: Drinks
I concur with regard to the congestion isue on a Friday night. Those who participated in a similar event last year will remeber a highly entertaining occasion taking place in somewhat cramped conditions. How about Wednesday 30th November or Thursday 1st December?DaveS wrote:I could make either of these dates, but (I state my interest as a semi-retired person somewhat less thirled than the fully employed to the Mon - Fri cycle) choosing a Friday does inevitably mean more bodies.

Won't Embra be full of magisters and local governmentalists looking for fun after a strenuous day of demonstrating against the pension plans of their democratically elected masters?Ocklepoint wrote:Wednesday, 30th November

Re: Drinks
Post strike drinkies on St. Andrews night - fine! (I've always thought that a semi-continuous winter party running from St. Andrews day to Burn's Night would be A Good Thing) Any thoughts for starting time?
