vane gear for an Albin Vega?

.
Start by putting a search for 'windvane' on Ebay - that's how we got our Navik.

We also got ours from eBay, and like, almost every Vega, we have a Navik. Wasn't totally straightforward as it turned out some of the bits were missing, but all worked out in the end.
I think some of the other common vanes are too large for the Vega (Aries, Monitor, Hydrovane etc).

Jumblie came with a Sea Feather which the previous owner (a boat builder) chose because it's a lot lighter than some of the competition. Since Jumblie's back end is pointy, this is important - you don't want to hang 100kg+ over the back without a good big transom to hold it up.Mavanier wrote: I think some of the other common vanes are too large for the Vega (Aries, Monitor, Hydrovane etc).
Overall I've been impressed with the SF, though I haven't yet got it properly set up. Tension in the tiller ropes seems to be crucial and sensitive. Great fun when it's working though, and it seems pretty well made.
