Joan had a few hours off so we went for a drive and landed up in Troon. We had a saunter round the marina, had a look at Sahona on the hard, and came across Tom and Moira of Teem Surveys who were working down there. BTW, Tom reckons that he surveyed Sahona for her purchase - about 6 years ago?
We picked up a cheap lunch at Greggs, and had a walk beside the south beach - it was warm once sheltered from the onshore wind.
What do you think this guy is trying to achieve? Will the tide take the sand down the beach before the wind blows it over the town?

Sorry to have missed you guys at the boat. Had a film session for the Scottish National Theatre at the house this morning so wasn't at work as I should have been. We were there this PM, and of course, no visitors!
The tractor on the beach has a trailer thingy that sifts out the stones (and no doubt needles, bottles and other human debris) but I haven't seen it piling up the sand like that in Prestwick.
I know there is a dunes preservation/restoration project going on in Troon ( the picture is Barrassie, next door I think) maybe they're using the excess sand to bolster the Troondoons.
Yup, Teem did the purchase survey.
http://trooncruisingclub.org/ 20' - 30' Berths available, Clyde.
Cruising, racing, maintenance facilities. Go take a look, you know you want to.

We walked along the South Beach Esplanade from the toilet block on St Maddens Street to the carpark that the kite surfers use ( just short of Royal Troon Golf Clubhouse ).
The photo was taken at the St Maddens Street end. The beach had been raked - the pile of debris can be seen in the background - above the tractor - along the beach where the sand dunes start.
Initially I thought that there might have been a big pile of sand lying alongside the wall, and that he was leveling that but the sand was already fairly flat.
