Four people were rescued this afternoon (3rd August 2011) from a RIB that had broken down and was drifting in the Corryvreckan. One of the Seafari RIB’s found them, but was unable to transfer them in difficult sea conditions and notified the Coastguard, who put out a call asking any boat in the area to go the aid of the stricken RIB.
The cruise boat, Sea Leopard, operating out of Ardfern and on a three hour cruise with 60 passengers on board, answered the call and headed for the Corryvreckan. Her own cruise had taken her through the Grey Dogs and she was coming through the Corryvreckan.
Sea Leopard took the boat in tow (below) and brought it into Pig Bay on Jura, where it was easier and safer to transfer the passengers.
