Crinan Canal Water Festival - Sunday 31st July

.
The 2011 Crinan Canal Water Festival takes place on Sunday 31st July from 11.30 to 16.30 at the Dunardry Lock Flight.

This is not only a spectator event – as with the spectacular Dragon Boat challenge – visitors will have the opportuntiy to walk on water, canoe, sail – and enter a boat building competition. They don’t say whether you must then take to the water in your own construction.

This follows last year’s successful inaugural event and is staged jointly by the Heart of Argyll Tourism Alliance and British Waterways Scotland.

Thre are plenty of family activities and specials for young children – and crafts and good food.

Food from Argyll will be there and Tunnocks are giving free Caramel Wafers & Tea Cakes.

A free shuttle bus will operate a regular service between 11.0 and 16.30 from McGinty’s Yard at Achnabreck, taking you to and from the festival site between Cairnbaan and Bellanoch, with no worries about car parking and minimal disruption to traffic on the road to Knapdale and Crinan.
