Thought for the Day

Post by claymore »

I was sailing on Windermere on Sunday having got the wee boat launched ready for the impending arrival of the grand-daughter on Monday and the big adventure we've been planning for a while now.

Filled with bonhomie - the warm sun on my back, the lofty Langdale peaks in sight and not a speedboat to spoil the party, a thought entered the mind of the Claymore.

I love a reach or a run up the Sound of Mull, the wild isolation of West Loch Tarbert fills me with awe and wonder, the final mile into Canna with the evening sun on Rhum at the end of a 5 hour spinnaker run is just wonderful and so it goes on.

BUT

It is rather splendid to be sailing on a piece of water with an ice cream shop at each end

Jings
I realise I'm not the tallest of the species but even with my not inconsiderable level of wealth, I've never considered getting a kitchen with a sink big enough to sail in.....

Mr C, take no notice of the unenlightened. Windymere may be lacking in tides but you can get a sailing fix without all that tedious driving for hours to Jockland. And get an ice cream.

Jockland is good for holidays though, it brought a tear to me eye reading you waxing lyrical about the sound of Mull and points North in your OP.

Cheers Bob.
