Kids from the adventure school at the north end of Lunga are sometimes "abandoned" on this and other nearby islands. The post is for attaching a garment as a "help" signal. I had forgotten about this when, in the previous boat with more basic facilities, I was happily sitting on a bucket in the cockpit. Glancing up I spotted a wee lassie taking a close interest in proceedings...
