Public Apology
It appears that my feeble & childish attempts at humour are coming over badly. I wish to apologise to all I have offended & I wish to point out that there is nothing personal in my postings. My "banter" is meant to be evenly distributed, & lighthearted, but it seems that it isn't either in fact.
Two things;
1/ I will promise to try to be better behaved in future.
2/ Please accept that my daft comments simply show that I am daft & nothing else.

Re: Public Apology
Apparently I have inadvertently offended one of our fellow members. I am trying to make it better.
However, with my usual ineptitude & lack of tact, it appears I may be making it worse. So it goes, I have had to live with the consequences of my actions for 64 years & I am beginning to think it may be permanent.
Jimi, I must admit that you are my hero, and that may have contriuted to my downfall.

Thank you Steve, I was being over sensitive. I would like to say sorry to the members of this forum for creating and for a moment bring it down to the level of TOP.
And Steve I will take you up on your offer, probably next weekend if you are about as we will need to chat with the HM and see what if anything is on offer.
Back to bed for me, insomnia is not fun.

Sadly, I have to issue you with a rain check on that one, I won't be allowed out. My Grandkids are in their dance show at The Grand Theatre Wolverhampton.Julian wrote:Thank you Steve, I was being over sensitive. I don't know about Victoria Dock (but suspect you are not a marina man either) but there are at least a couple of mid-river trot moorings available. My total cost for a (just under) 10m boat including dues, fees & vat is under 800squid. That includes access to a locked dighy store (not always free of petty theft & "borrowning") and one free parking space in the slate quay carpark. If crafty, you may sneak in an odd extra car from time to time & guests will always be allowed in to load/unload.
The river is extremely well sheltered in 99.5% of weather & dries for 2-3 hours twice a day. Bieng a mix of salt & fresh, fouling is nominal & I only anti-foul every other year. There is water on the quay & Elec can be had at the Harbour Workshop during working hours (which seem to be 10-4 with a 3hr lunch

You are a short walk from a decent shopping centre with Netto, Sainsbury, (Tesco a short drive), Iceland & Farm Foods plus a stack of charity shops, Poundstretcher & Argos. Plus a small chandlery at the Dock. The Straits are accessible in ANY weather, but can be quite lumpy & wet with wind over tide. The Bar (tidal!) is the big issue as SW5+ over the ebb is not a pleasant experience & any higher may be life threatening. Lots of places nearby for safe anchorages & the Swellies is always a joy to traverse (if you watch your tides).

Pity there's no Aldi or Lidl nearby as you can sometimes get some great tools there for a knock down price!

The wine boxes from Netto are my best buy. Pity they've been taken over by Asda/Walmart & will probably die soon.
Actually, any tool I need to buy is costed against the job it's needed for. If it survives for another task, that's a bonus. If it's too costly, I look at hiring, borrowing or getting someone to do the job for me.

Re: Public Apology
For a while last night I thought I'd fallen through a worm hole into another place. I'd mentally composed about 2000 words on forum dynamics and the need for tolerance, mutual respect and cutting each other some slack from time to time but then I had another glass of red instead and it all sorted itself out - without my assistance.
Nicely done Arghiro & Julian.

And 'oo the 'ell are you to interfere with a good fight? D'ya want a bloody nose? Me & my mate will give you one too, Don't think we won't, ain't that right Julian?
Actually, as usual, the truth was a lot more mundane, we had a minor misunderstanding. Boring, innit? Sorry to let you down & spoil your chance of chucking one or both of us in the sin-bin.
I think the crowd gathering & chanting "Fight, Fight, FIGHT, FIGHT" were a little disappointed. So it goes. No blood today guys.
signed,

And that's all it ever is (usually) but if one slightly misjudges the tone and another isn't sleeping well things can easily get out of hand unless we are able to give each other the benefit of the doubt up to the point where doubts are no longer able to be sustained.Arghiro wrote:we had a minor misunderstanding.
It's a cyberworld cliche but there are many who come across as lippy gobshites online (not thinking of anyone in particular here
