YOTBLOG RIDES AGAIN
.
Since Wordpress 3.0 Wordpress has been capable of running multi-blog sites. I hae now set one up at http://www.yotblog.com and as a starter have copied Silkie's 'Plain Sailing' blog post for post including pictures but excluding comments. Dave's 'new' blog is at http://www.yotblog.com/silkie
Copying the entire blog (34 posts, many of them long with multiple pictures) took me around 4 hours, so that should give you some idea of the time it will take if you decide to migrate your old blog. (I didn't copy thet comments, although that is also possible). Alternatively, you may decide to just set up a new one or you can ask me for a quote to do the migration for you - special rates wil be offered.
Wordpress is rugged Open Source software and very well supported. I do not anticipate any problem keeping the new site going for the forseeable future. New blogs will be set up on request (PM or email) - there is no online facility to do so, and the intention is really to make this facility pretty much exclusive to BlueMoment regulars. There is not and never will be any charge for a blog, neither will there be any advertising on individual blogs. It's a total freebie, but I have set up a PayPal donation button on the home page and if you want to donate any amount however small then please feel free.

Wordpress Themes for YotBlog
.
One of the great things about Wordpress is that you can change themes at the click of a mouse without affecting the content of your blog. At the moment only the twentyten theme is available in YotBlog, but even this gives you a custom header and background plus more configuration options. Once there are a few blogs going on the site I will create some more themes to give users a bigger choice - but I am not going to do this until there are more blogs on the site.

Re: YOTBLOG RIDES AGAIN
Thanks to Nick for putting in the effort to set this up for us.
I have managed to move some posts from my old Blog to the new one by just copy and paste.
Most of the pictures came over as well.
I did need to sort out the carriage returns but is was quite easy and quick.
25 posts moved so far in 2 hours with a few interruptions.

Your blog is looking good Clive - I see you have managed to put your own image into the header to personalise it.CliveG wrote:I did need to sort out the carriage returns but is was quite easy and quick.

The formatting issues are inevitable if you just copy and paste - I could go into the technical detail sbut Claymore will only complain

Re: YOTBLOG RIDES AGAIN
Claymore's blog is back!
I have transcribed his excellent Summer Cruise 2003, but have not bothered with the Chents Cruise 2006 as that is reproduced in the Articles section on BlueMoment and was written by Matt anyway.
I look forward to seeing this year's blog of Claymore's return to Scottish waters. Hope Claysie likes the background colour!

CliveG's blog
.
I had forgotten how good some of your blogs were - just been reading the 'Pirates' entry on CliveG's blog. As you will see, Clive has also personalised it by adding his own picture and background.
So far only five signups for the new YotBlog. I don't know if that is because most people who want to blog have already sorted themselves out with an alternative or if their minds are simply on other things at the moment. If anyone has any particular favourites on the old yotblog.co.uk that they think should be preserved even if their original creators have abandoned them then post here and if I have time I may transfer them myself.

Re: YOTBLOG RIDES AGAIN
Hmm
I seem to have blogged - albeit inadvertantly and without a clue as to how.
So - How does one change the colour to grey.
How does one correct spelling and grammatical glitches
Where are my pics.
Who do I send the next one to?
Regards
Technically inept.

I've sent you an email (the second on this matter in fact). Let me know if you don't receive it. Armed with your log-in details and a Wordpress manual the project should present no overwhelming difficulties to a man of your abilities. We look forward to reading abut the coming season's exploits in glorious technicolour.
(And on that note - the background colour on your blog is taken directly from the photo below . . . )
