Heat it in an old pot until it melts. It smells a bit so best do it outdoors. When it's all nice and runny, you coat your standing rigging with it, before wrapping the whole lot in canvas using a serving hammer.

Just ate some. It was a bit big and the leaves looked tough so we just ate the stalks - quite nice, a bit earthy.
