A new tenant has been found and it is due to open "at the end of this month" - allegedly.

Leaving aside the question of the management shambles that has allowed it to remain unoccupied for half the season and the not inconsiderable revenue and goodwill that will already have gone elsewhere (the Chentleman's Cruise alone would normally put a couple of hundred in the coffers of the marina & restaurant in one evening) I really hope that this is a success this year.

Anyway, it couldn't be any worse than it was last year, surely?

As you said, it can't be any worse than previously. Hopefully the new landlords will realise the potential and cater more for the customers than the management !
A crying shame as it has the potential to be a goldmine in the right hands and a very inviting establishment.

to work it needs to be a destination for all in the area, not just cater for marina users.
some basics would be good:
clean
good local ingredients (seafood landed at the marina)
reasonable prices

Got to be better than last year. It's not often I can be bothered grumping out loud, but the Frog family did it for me.

I remember your story Bill and I would have found it hard to believe had I not already personally witnessed several similar incidents.

It reopened on Monday I hear. Unsurprisingly it's not busy yet but I gather the food's OK, the service satisfactory and the beer fresh. I've yet to find out how expensive it is.

THere is a little farm shop just up the road that does top quality beef and venison. When in Oban, I always pick up a few packs of fillet for the old man.

I had my first pint in the Frog on Thursday evening but have very little to report since (for reasons probably best not explained on a public forum) I spent more time wondering if I was going to be thrown out than soaking up the ambience.

One clear impression was that the new team are on a steep learning curve and I fear for them in WHYW.
