Ketch
Does the panel think that 32' Loa is a bit on the small size for a ketch rig?
I'm quite interested in a Beneteau Evasion 32 that is on the market near me and he is a lover of the Claymore.
Just read that and it seems a bit inappropriate so I will re-word. The guy who owns the Beneteau really likes Claymore yachts.....there.

Re: Ketch
I have a 31' Pentland ketch & she is great, but often the smallest ketch in town.
I looked at an evasion last year as I like the idea of the pilothouse, but I don't like the long keel - I want twin keels. It also seemed rather light & flimsy after my 1973 Westerly! The one I looked at was also somewhat tired & shabby.

Re: Ketch
This one is clean enough but after all I've done to Claymore I'm thinking it would probably be a backward step to go for the Beneteau - I do like the cockpit and the 2 steering positions though.
Accommodation wise, the aft cabin on Claymore is a bonus as we can keep the rest of the accommodation relatively tidy and if Parahandy is aboard you really need to get as far away as you can.

Aja's right John, all the bits of moulding etc. seem to be there - just hacksaw a dod off the existing boom or add a bowsprit for balance!
Did you try a test drive pee in the eauvation? Also, we had a wee incident in the club a few years ago and were all surprised at the fragility of build...
I can understand why the bene owner would be interested in 'Claymore', but not the reverse.
Totally unbiassed of course.

Re: Ketch
It is a difficult question but what perplexes me is that one of your advanced years and small stature feels the need to get a craft with a couple of sticky up things and a coachroof that requires the use of an orange box to see over. Have you consulted a shrink recently?

Now gainfully employed in a plastics firm playing with paper and computers. Oh the ignominy of it all, move from Dumbarton to Gourock then get a job back in Dumbarton...

I think it best if you restrict your time on Bluemoment to your leisure hours. Being gainfully employed once more - I think it would be a shame if your current employers discovered - as did the last bunch - just how much time you spent surfing and your downfall plotted once more.

Sound advice fer the auld goat; fer sure, without the Bendix's spin cycle he's got his eye on the aft stick as a washing line? Psychiatric help is urgently needed.jim.r wrote:It is a difficult question but ... Have you consulted a shrink recently?
