A trawler has recovered the top 6 metres of a mast ( top to spreaders) in the North Minch, complete with foresail, most of the mainsail, wooden roller boom and a selection of stays.
Sailnumber is 1171, sails by Jeckells.
A phone call to Jeckells with the serial number has not had a response.
Its all too far gone for repair, apart from the boom (and the trawl aint too clever either!) but we're interested
where it came from.
Any suggestions?
Lost a mast in the last year or two?

Re: Lost a mast in the last year or two?
If the boat ever had a Clyde Yacht Clubs' Association handicap and the sail number was 1171C then:
1171C LEOBHAN FIJIAN O 20.00
Was there not a similar type of boat lost a couple of years ago at the south end of Kerrera?
Regards
Donald

Must have been a fair length of mast, and hull. I suppose that it would be possible to work it out.NorthUp2 wrote: 6 metres of a mast ( top to spreaders)

Fijians were designed by Hartley.......Silkie wrote:Tha was Classic Wave which was a ferro Hartley of some kind IIRC.

Apologies for the sloppy post but I hadn't imagined that you might think I wouldn't know that.Aja wrote:Fijians were designed by Hartley.......Silkie wrote:Tha was Classic Wave which was a ferro Hartley of some kind IIRC.

As I read it, the Fijian is a 43ft ferro-cement boat. If so, the name Leobhan means that this is the vessel formerly owned by my friend Mike Colyer.
