A pain in the sternum.
If you are laid over the top of your engine struggling with a stubborn nut/bolt, either wear body armour or remove the alternator and mounting bracket. If you don’t you will know about it for some time after, yet to be determined.

In the bad old days, when we had a Volvo with the waterpump at the wrong end, an old cushion was kept available to 'sledge' on. I'm sure it cut down wear and tear on the wires and tubes as well as the engineer's belly.
