Boat still on hard and "drying out" prior to re-epoxification, Madame Shard going south to see Minnie Shard, not back until Monday.

Anyone short-handed, or who would be willing to suffer all-drinking, all-swearing crew for a day or two?

I'm dropping Madame Shard off at Edinburgh airport at around 0710/0750 tomorrow (Saturday). Realistically, could prob reach Clyde moorings by 1000ish, Argyll 1100ish. Anyone feeling sufficiently foolhardy?

I could offer you a weekend scrubbing, anti-fouling, varnishing and bedding deck fittings - is this the sort of thing you had in mind?

I can't even offer that, goddammit, since I'm collecting Mrs Silkie from Edinburgh Airport at 1810 on her return from a week's jolly in Sevilla with a couple of her pals. I hope to escape to a few days hard labour on Monday.

Hmmmm..... It would be too painful while Shard is laid up with her bottom scraped sob, sob.

I suppose we could meet up at Edinburgh airport, have a moan and get pissed. Could Mrs Silkie drop me and my car off in Stirling?

Let's know if you need a hand though. Monday? Madame Sgeir comes back Monday PM but needs the car in the evening. Might be poss though - where are you?

I'm in Penicuik and planning to go up on Monday (possibly Sunday evening if I can get away with it) and return on Wednesday. I'm assured that the leccy is restored now (after the January storm surge) so at least I won't freeze to death. What you got in mind?

Woke up wiser?

.. or just been on the sauce since Madame left? Change of plan anyway. It seems I'm indispensable for the first part of the week and now plan to go up on Thursday for a long weekend.

Err, bit of both.

I'm starting to feel guilty about lack of progress on my own boat. Whenever I've had time it's either been peeing down or just generally cold and miserable. Apart from the epoxy work on the hull, priorities are
  • stripping and re-sealing the deck fittings (some of them at least)
measuring, cutting, fitting and sealing new portlights (arrrrghhhh)
stripping and re-painting the non-slip bits of the deck
    sanding and varnishing external fittings
    sanding and varnishing internal fittings
Just need a few days of decent weather and no commitments. And then there's the garden.................
