I suspect that it would only show how ephemeral these links are and would require constant maintenance. The last time I visited the thread where I hid links to all the best Hendrix on youtube only a couple of them were still working.

I still can't find another source for the Irving Johnson film Around Cape Horn but while looking tonight I discovered that Christopher Sheldon, whose later loss of the Albatross formed the basis for the film White Squall, had crewed with Johnson.

These are truly great films, but I take your point about URL hyperlink maintenance. Provided it is legal, with no copyright problems etc, would it be possible for BlueMoment to host them?

These are truly great films, but I take your point about URL hyperlink maintenance. Provided it is legal, with no copyright problems etc, would it be possible for BlueMoment to host them?

If there are no copyright issues then it would theoretically be possible to host them - it is easy enough to set up. However, it would probably be quite a popular archive and I can see possible bandwidth issues. We are going to invest in another server shortly to host some other sites, and this should have some reserve so if someone else looks into the copyright issues I will consider it.

Who moves video URLs on youtube and why? I have a client who is making loads of them and getting me to embed them on his website and they are quite effective marketing tools - are the links likely to suddenly stop working?

Mostly due to copyright issues I think (certainly so in the case of the Hendrix videos) and occasionally, as with the Irving Johnson film, "removed at the request of the poster." Neither of which should give your client any problems unless you're up to your old tricks with UKHO charts again.
